Who I Am

Hey, I'm Siân! I live in Congleton with my husband, 4 children and our 3 chihuahuas.

I’ve always loved baking, my earliest memory is when I used to go to my local library after school and they would have a shelf with all different baking books on. I can remember the first bake I made and it was some sort of coconut macaroon and you had to use an egg cup to form them. I used to love making egg custard tarts and Welsh cakes were very popular growing up in Wales.

I carried on with the odd baking here and there but it wasn’t until I had my own family and started making my children’s birthday cakes that the passion ignited in me. Having four children to cater for wasn’t easy as they would want all sorts of creations, kids can be your worst critic and they know exactly what they want. That’s when I started watching videos and tutorials to gain some skills to be able to make burgers and fried chicken cakes, I used to love making them look so realistic. After making numerous cakes for family and friends, I decided to start my own business in 2014 where I began as "Siân’s Novelty Cakes". I then discovered my passion for wedding cakes and not just making them but the whole process from meeting the couples right at the beginning and following them on their journey right up to their wedding day. Many of my couples have gone on to have their own families and have called on me to make their birthday and christening cakes too.

I would say my style has evolved over the years and I now have a love for textured wedding cakes and making edible wafer flowers to go on them. I’m not afraid to go bold with my colours too!

I have recently got involved with a number of styled wedding shoots which I absolutely love. Spending the day with other local suppliers, getting to know them and watch them work is a bonus.
